Honeybee Gardens WaterColors Nail Enamel

Honeybee Gardens WaterColors Nail Enamel
Name: Honeybee Gardens WaterColors Nail Enamel
Your Price: $6.99
Stock Status: In Stock

5 new colors. Details below.

Finding non solvent-based nail polish is seemingly impossible, but we did it! Apothena.com is proud to offer water-based nail polishes from Honeybee Gardens. These polishes are totally free from toluene, xylene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate and FD&C dyes. The colors you see are made from pure mineral pigments. The water-based formula allows the nail bed to breathe, unlike most salon- and drugstore-available polishes. Odor-free. Comes off with regular rubbing alcohol or with Honeybee Gardens acetone-free remover. $6.99 ea. Not a vegan product: some colors contain Carmine (usually the darker red tones).
Make your color selection below. Color shown may appear different than actual polish color due to differences in computer monitors. We have done our best to show a true representation of the polish color.

Tips for using WaterColors Nail Enamel:

- Start with clean DRY nails; apply two coats and let dry completely. May take a bit longer than conventional nail polish. Sets in about 5 minutes.

- It's a good idea to apply a clear coat before applying the really dark reds. Because only  rich natural pigments are used, some color could be left behind on the nail, creating a slight pinkish hue. Simply wash with soap and water, and the hue will fade in a few hours. But a clear coat may help to avoid this all together.

- Touch ups are easy with WaterColors. Because of the water-based formula, touch-ups blend right in without leaving that additional coat line.

- A top coat of clear may make the polish last longer.

- Remove by applying rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol (or use Honeybee Gardens Nail Enamel Remover) to cotton ball, and applying wetted cotton ball to nail. Allow to remain on the nail for a few seconds and then wipe off. When all polish is removed, wash with soap and water. Never leave any polish on for more than one week. The longer the polish remains on the nail (beyond several days) the more difficult it is to remove.

Ingredients: water, water-miscible acrylic, polyurethane formers and thickeners, non-ionic soaps. May Contain: ultramarine blue, carmine, mica, iron oxides, titanium dioxide and/or chromium hydroxide.

Please note that nail enamel by definition is not 100% natural. For truly natural nails, apothena.com recommends bare nails. But, when you want some color, water-based nail colors are the way to go.

Too bad..., 13 Jun 2008
by JenDiggityDirt from California United States

I was really excited about this product. I, too, have been avoiding nail polishes because of all the nasty ingredients. I would rather go without, though,, than have to deal with a polish that WILL NOT COME OFF. I ended up having to buy regular nail polish remover and SOAK my nails in it for several MINUTES before this stuff would come off. Boo!

Jury is still out on this one, 16 Feb 2008
by Nancy Iankowitz from New York United States

I bought a clear for myself and a pale pink polish for my 16 year old. The clear went on nicely, no odor (great!), and took quite a while to dry. Then I was disappointed because it chipped off (even after two coats) over the course of the day. I am looking forward to seeing how the pink works for my daughter.

Nice nail polish, 11 Oct 2007
by Melissa Crandall from California United States

I was very happy to be able to use nail enamel again, and I love that there is absolutely no smell to this. The color is great. It lasts almost as long as regular polish, but it's very difficult to remove. It takes a lot of alcohol, elbow grease and scraping. Still worth it for my toes, though.

Nice Nail Polish!, 24 Sep 2007
by Shannon Myers from Texas United States

I purchased the clear and Mocha Latte. They were a great purchase. My toes look wonderful and did not have a problem with them chipping or rubbing off at the tips. I put the clear on my fingernails and I am pretty rough with them so the clear did not stay very long before chipping. I will be purchasing other colors.

I finally have beautiful toes again :), 28 May 2007
by Mattea Orr from New York United States

After three years of abstaining from any kind of nail enamel because of the toxins involved I finally discovered the water based enamel lines out there. HBG is some of the most affordable out there, so it was the first I tried and I loved it, but thought, "Well, if this is good, then the more expensive must be great!" Yeah, not so much :) This is it!
